Discarded rubber tires and stainless steel
Courtesy of the artist and David Nolan Gallery
Composed of salvaged tires, Grid Lock transforms a material synonymous with geographic mobility and the American auto industry into enfolded, biomorphic forms. The artwork features two sculptures—one side concave and the other convex, reminiscent of a halved cocoon—that appear simultaneously organic yet manufactured, emergent yet protective.
