ABOUT OUTDOOR CINEMA

Outdoor Cinema is Socrates Sculpture Park's annual open-air festival of international film, music, dance and cuisine. Now in its twelfth season, the series is held on Wednesday evenings during the months of July and August and draws over 1,500 people per screening, from across the five boroughs and beyond. Socrates established the festival in cooperation with Partnerships for Parks to bring awareness to the rich cultural life in Queens. Produced in collaboration with the Museum of the Moving Image, each night is curated around a different country or culture. Visitors can sample regional cuisine from neighborhood restaurants, picnic on the grass as the sun sets over the city, enjoy performances by local musicians and dancers and, as the sky darkens, see exceptional international films on a large-format screen, all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Manhattan skyline. All screenings are free and open to the public.
