Haiku Kites: A Poetry and Kitemaking Workshop
May 23, 2004
11:00 am – 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Socrates Sculpture Park and The Noguchi Museum team up for a second year to present this special workshop in the Park. Children will participate in a hands-on workshop where they will learn about haiku (one of the most important forms of traditional Japanese poetry), write their own haiku, build and decorate their kites, and then fly their kites in the Park.

Participation in the workshops is free and supplies will be provided, but space is limited and advance registration is required. Register for either the 11 am or 1 pm session by calling Shirley at the Noguchi Museum, 718-204-7088, x 203, before May 15. Each workshop session lasts approximately two hours and will be held rain or shine under a tent in the education area at Socrates Sculpture Park.
